There is a phrase repeated a few times throughout Song of Solomon that offers wise guidance for anyone reading. The phrase says, "that you not stir up or awaken love until it pleases." What does this mean in the grand scheme of things? You cannot make someone love you, and you cannot make yourself love someone else, but there is more to this verse, surely?

God's timing is perfect, and we must respect it. There is a time and a season for every occurrence and every feeling. God stresses patience throughout the Bible for a reason. This is because humans are naturally inclined to error and sin.

When we allow God to have His way, life is created, peace is restored, and everything goes smoothly. But when we try to take control of situations and force a result, it causes great harm both to those on the receiving side and to ourselves. Sin is the result of choosing to walk your own path instead of following the path that God has set for you. We have all thought that we knew better than sound wisdom, only to soon find out that foolishness has consequences.

The smartest and wisest people understand that God is looking out for them and that there is no reason to rush results. Simply have your desires, align them with God's will, and take action in the direction that God leads you.
